Color of Film Mini-Grant Program

The Color of Film Collaborative with the support from the LEF foundation created a mini-grant program that is designed to assist in the moving along of a project or to help release a stalled project from stagnation by infusing the project with small amounts of cash.

The "Program" provides funding primarily to aid independent filmmakers of color with projects that are currently in production with a smaller focus on films that are in the development stage. Film/video currently in production means film/video projects that have begun principal photography. Film/video in development means projects that are in the research and writing stage where funds are needed for pre-production expenses, such as travel, interviews, research, software, etc that will help and already developed project in to the production stage. The first of the grants were awarded in November of 2004 to 5 independent filmmakers for a total amount of $5,000. Since that time there has been an additional $10, 500 awarded in 2005 and 2006. . The program currently is set up to grant two times a year, in the Fall/Winter and in the Spring/Summer.
