A goal of AIMM is to position Boston on the national map of leading independent motion picture production centers. To remain vital, our community must not only understand the rapid transformation of the national and international independent media landscape, but have deeper knowledge of its own unique ecology. By generating its own research, as well as analyzing the research of others, AIMM seeks to connect the local community to the global, and leverage Boston's unique and important strengths onto the national stage.
AIMM and the MPC have just completed the first comprehensive look at the motion picture industry in Massachusetts in 10 years. The report analyzes economic activity in motion picture production in Massachusetts from 1999-2004 and provides baseline information to track future trends in this industry. The study identifies how Massachusetts is well positioned to further the growth of this creative economic sector by leveraging the state's strengths in cinematic storytelling and innovative technology.
